Current Projects

This year I'm participating in the Poetry Marathon the goal of the marathon is to write one poem per hour for 24 hours (or for 12 hours if you are participating in the half marathon) at 9 AM ET on June 13th, 2026. 762 poets are participating. The project provides prompts, a forum, and other support. Looking forward to the challenge.

I am working on a translation project called Torres de arena  / Towers of Sand with the poet José Ramón Sánchez Leyva of Guantánamo City, Cuba. The publisher for this project is Poinciana Paper Press in the Bahamas.

I am also editing a collection of poems called Juxtapositions with the poet Jane Alberdeston.  Most of the poems in Juxtapositions are either about the Caribbean or by poets who live in the region. The project features poems in English, Spanish, French, Papiamentu, and Kreyòl.

I coordinate a bi-annual local event in conjunction with the larger global celebration known as 100,000 Poets for Change. It takes place in September and is sponsored by the Institute of Caribbean Studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. It 2026, it will be held in conjunction with the 44th Annual West Indian Literature Conference in San Juan.
